Most people have never watched a live opera before. Here are some FAQs to help prepare you for one of our performances!
What is opera?
Opera combines all of the art forms: music, dance, visual art, and more. It tells a story set to music and is sung throughout – elevating the experience for the performers and audience. There can be dialogue but most operas are sung from beginning to end.
How long are operas?
Typically, operas can run as long as four hours. However, we aim to “abridge” the opera without compromising the integrity of the story and music. Each production we mount will be under two hours’ running time.
What do I wear?
Whatever makes you feel comfortable.
